Baby Ryker’s Lifestyle Newborn Session

When my husband and I decided to build a new house with a bigger

studio space I knew that I wanted to expand my photography.  I thought

maybe I would shoot more studio head shots or start shooting fitness

photography. A small part of me thought about maybe shooting some

lifestyle newborn photography.  If you follow my work you know that I have

never really shot families, or young children and definitely not babies. I like

my work posed and connected and very intimate so I struggle to connect with

shooting family portraits with young children where it is very candid and fun. 

So after the studio was in progress I started to think about these lifestyle

newborn sessions, are they for me, is my studio a good fit for them, do

people want these sessions in my studio….questions questions questions.

In December my good friend Jennifer asked me if I would take some

photos of them with their new baby girl and I said yes…lets try this. 

Well, it took me minutes to fall in love with these sessions. I love the connection

with the baby and simplicity of these adorable cuddling lifestyle sessions. 

And so Miss Emma sparked my passion for lifestyle newborn sessions.

Fast forward a few months and I had the absolute honor of capturing

Gayla, Becky and Ryker. These new moms and their gorgeous baby

boy came to me just days after they brought him home from out east.  It is

quite amazing to witness a connection that has been build in just a couple

short weeks.  Ryker had the cutest little habits already, when they held him

a certain way he would curl up and push his bum out which was just the

cutest thing.

Just love this black and white image! One of my favorites from the session. Can’t even handle this cuteness! Those smiles though…so amazing! Couldn’t be happier. I wanted to capture their matching tattoos as well in this session. It is the little things that I love about these sessions.
