Travis & Sonya’s Spruce Meadows Wedding

I first met these two back in 2014 when they hired me to do a family photo shoot

of them and their two dogs. We had quite the adventurous shoot cause right when we

took the dogs off leash to get a nice portrait of each of them a big flock of birds

flew by really close and really low and off went one of the dogs to chase them. It took

Travis a good 10 minutes trekking through some snow and cold weather to get him back

to us. Fast forward another year and Travis popped the question and I was honored when

they contacted me again to be their photographer. These two got married at the

stunning Spruce Meadows. I have dreamt about shooting a wedding here for the last

6 years and I was so so pumped when they told me that they booked it as their

venue. Their day went off to smoothly and perfectly from the moment that I started photography coverage

until the last few photos under the sunset. After their beautiful ceremony at the grand staircase

at Spruce Meadows we headed to Fish Creek Park for photos. Alot of people do their wedding photos

on Spruce Meadows property but these two chose the more rustic vibe of Fish Creek Park.

Their reception was full of belly laughs and some heartfelt tears as people toasted to

what an amazing couple these two are. I am starting to get emotional just thinking of it.

So let me stop there and share a few words from the bride & groom.

How did you guys meet and tell us about the proposal?
· We met on his birthday, May 7, 2010. Through my bestfriend/M.O.H, Kelsey.

· He took me to Princes’ Island Park on December 23^rd to go Skating. Unbelievably there was no one

else around. We skated for bout 10-15 minutes until he took me over towards the bridge which was lit up in

Christmas lights and you could hear the Christmas music playing. At that time he got the courage to get

down on one knee, this took me by surprise and I asked him if he was joking! Then he pulled out the r

ing and I immediately said yes. Best day ever.

Most memorable moment from your wedding day?
Bride
· When we were walking down the aisle after being married and having all the bubbles blowing around us,

I felt like I was on cloud 9. As well as when the limo pulled away and I was walking up the aisle

towards my soon to be husband! <3

Groom

· Walking down the aisle after we were married and all the bubbles were blowing around, we stopped and I looked

into her beautiful eyes and kissed her.

Tell me about the special aspects of your day that made it unique to you two?

· I would have to say my bouquet having my dad’s necklace on it. How beautiful everything was, and just being able to have all of our families from out of town with us.

Advice to couples planning their wedding day?

· Don’t stress! Something will go a-wire, but it always works out. Also hire someone to set up your décor and take down that night.

I love shooting all the details as one photo…shoes, garter etcI always get the bridesmaids to help the bride with her accessories. It is her day to be pampered. A little pre ceremony sip to take the edge off. Oh my goodness how cute is sheThis venue though….seriously a dream venue. Bubbles and kisses…winning. Love throwing in some quirky shots. Beautiful girls and these purple dresses looked amazing against the nice green trees. My second shooter got this rad very close up shot of TJ opening the champagne ha ha Love love love these two and this light! Their rings with a memory locket that Sonya carried for her dad.
