Rainy, Moody and Romantic Lakeside Engagement Session
Two of my favorite people are getting married and I feel incredibly blessed to be the one
who gets to capture their wedding day! This romantic lakeside engagement session was rainy
and moody and it was all sorts of perfection in my books! I have said it before but when you
are booked into a mountain session it is often a fully committed date. Especially when the
weather decides to change last minute. These two booked a romantic mountain getaway for
a couple days so when the rain came they said no problem. I always have clear umbrellas in
my car so I was prepped for this rainy romantic session. We used the umbrellas when the rain
picked up or while we were changing spots at the location to keep them dry as long as possible.
These rocks are such an iconic spot at this location so we started there. And then we attempted
to shoot on the shore close by but another photographer parked herself about 8 feet from us
and blared music and kinda forced us to move. This is incredibly rude by the way and no
experienced professional would ever do something so faux pas. There is an etiquette at locations
and this is not really following them. But rather then say something and put a damper on her
clients we took the high road and moved to another spot which actually worked out even better.
So win win, I ended up thanking her rudeness in my head as the new spot was even better ha ha.
I first met Kevin and Paige quite a few years ago when they applied for a casting call that I did.
I wanted to shoot a certain color palette for outfits and Paige volunteered. We instantly became
friends and shortly after I hired Paige to be my hairstylist. And she has been in charge of my
purple hair since then…well my ever changing, purple and then not purple and then purple again
hair. When Kevin popped the question I anxiously awaited the text to be their photographer. I had
a good idea it was coming but I also learnt early on in my career to not take it personal when friends
go another direction for photography. But the text came and I did a giant happy dance.
I could write about these two all day so first here are some words from them and
then scroll for SOOOO many of their photos!
How & when did you two meet? What was your first date?
I don’t think we actually had an official first date! My best friend from junior high is his
cousin. Kevin had lived back and forth between Calgary and Ontario for years prior, and when he
returned to Calgary we officially met shortly thereafter when I was freshly 19. Kevin is 6 years older
than me, so the running joke is that he was waiting until I was of age.
Do you have all time favorite date you’ve been on? please tell me about it
We spent the day at discovery wildlife together and got photos taken with Paige’s obsession
animal, bears! Our usual favourite date is the shooting range and a steak house.
What is your favorite trip or experience you two have done together? What made it so special?
We spent a weekend in sylvan lake and got impromptu tattoos together, Kevin’s first!
If you were coming home from a day out on your own and you wanted to
surprise your significant other with a treat/drink/gift what would it be?
His answer: movie theatre popcorn
Her answer: slurpees and snacks

Now for fun a little game like the shoe game at weddings. If you are not familiar with this
game. They play it at weddings and basically you answer your name, their name or both.
But they do this with shoes at weddings.

His answer: Paige, 100%
Her answer: I’m the ONLY cook

His answer: Paige is classically trained so that’s not a fair question
Her answer: Raises hand ME!!

His answer: I did
Her answer: He did

His answer: I did
Her answer: He did
Who is more likely to get a speeding ticket?
His answer: Paige is
Her answer: Speeding, him. Parking, me.
Who is more of goof?
His answer: I would be
Her answer: ouu, tie? Probably circumstantial.
Who is first to get up in the morning?
His answer: Me, not by choice
