Scott & Kristi’s Sirocco Golf Wedding
Red Bloom Photography
Every time i blog a wedding I get this flood of emotions as I go through the images from the day.
The storytelling part of the day is what I love about wedding photography. I love all the little details
and moments that come together to tell the story. I want my couples to look back at their images
and feel like they can kinda relive the day through them. When I go through Scott & Kristi’s
wedding I really do feel like there is so many mini moments that really show how connected
these two are to each other and to their friends and family. There was so many laughs and tears
and some killer dance moves! And….some pretty epic sunset light. The sun literally kissed their
skin into these golden tones. It was a photographers dream. Also, I have no complaints about
getting to rip around in a golf cart all day…wait did I say rip…I mean drive slowly and
responsibly ha ha.
One thing you might notice about this wedding is that the order of the photos may
seem a bit mixed up but they sure aren’t. When my couples want to have a short turn around between ceremony
and their reception but they do not want a first look we do a special timeline. So what we do is we do photos
before the ceremony of the bride with her bridesmaids and the groom with his groomsmen. But we do it in a way
so that the bride and groom do not see each other. This allows my couple to still get all those amazing
wedding party photos without having a 3 hour break between ceremony and the reception. So for
Scott and Kristi we did this and then after the ceremony we just did about 10 minutes of wedding party
images and then we did photos of the two of them. And then I of course took them out at sunset again.
Before I get to their wedding story I have some words from the newlyweds…
How did you guys meet?
We met on a University Ski Trip 8 years ago, but our love story didn’t begin there! Scott immediately
caught Kristi’s eye, and that’s how he got the nickname, “Ski Trip Scott.” It took us two
years of random encounters and the occasional coffee dates to figure out
that we were perfect for each other!
Please share the proposal story with us?
We had a trip planned to the Dominican Republic with friends in the spring of 2017. Scott
successfully snuck the ring on the trip without Kristi finding it, and as the sun set on
the beach, Scott popped the question!
Most memorable moment from your wedding day?
Bride – The entire day was memorable! Everything from start to finish was amazing.
It was truly one of the best days of my life!
Groom – It’s hard to pick just one moment, but the one that stands out the most was standing
up in front of all of my friends and family, and seeing how beautiful Kristi looked in her
wedding dress, walking down the aisle towards the rest of our lives together!
Tell me about the special aspects of your day that made it unique to you two?
Kristi: My “something borrowed” was the veil that one of my best friends
(and bridesmaid) wore at her wedding last year. Next year another one of our best friend
s (and another one of my bridesmaids) is getting married, and she is going to wear the veil too!
We are calling it “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Veil.”
My “something old” was some lace from Scott’s grandma’s wedding dress
that she wore at her wedding 56 years ago.
Besides making the choice to marry each other, what was the easiest
decision you made for your wedding? What made it so easy?
The venue- Sirocco Golf Club! With Scott being from Lethbridge and Kristi being from
Calgary, we wanted to find venue with a mix of country and city. We knew the moment we
saw the rolling hills and wheat fields for an outdoor ceremony, and the beautiful
interior of the clubhouse, that we had found the perfect place!
What was the most difficult, time consuming choice that you made for your
wedding day? And advice to couples on this?
Our most challenging decision was making our guest list. With a restriction on the
number of guests, it was extremely hard to decide who to invite, and who not to. In the end, we
followed our guts and invited our closest family and friends. We would advise other couples to do the
same- after all, it’s those closest to you that make the day so special.
Advice to couples planning their wedding day?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help! We discovered that everyone we asked was more than
happy to help, which alleviated our stress and gave us the gift of time.

The hotel room that the guys got ready in had the most beautiful light!! I am a big fan of the bridesmaids all wearing different dresses! Kristi got ready in the locker room at Sirocco and it is a nice space but I wanted to give her
a bit of a softer background for getting into her dress so I left the dresses hung behind her as
a background. Our whips for the day! So much fun!So after we tucked Kristi back away in the clubhouse, the boys came out and we did their photos. I just adore this cute little rustic shed on the property! Scott and Kristi said to me that they will go out for sunset photos whenever I wanted. They said they will
just pause the reception and we can go. So I watched and watched the sun and then it was time!!!
We snuck out and we had the most beautiful last 15 minutes of sun and then the first 15 minutes of soft dusk.
Some of the most beautiful light that I have ever shot in.
