Cameron & Chelsea’s Arts Common Wedding

Red Bloom Photography

Sometimes I just sit back and think about how cool this job really is.  Not everyone gets to have

their dream job, and just cause it is my dream job that does not mean it is easy. It is challenging and

so hard but so so rewarding and I love it more way more often then I dislike it. I love it the most when

I am at weddings surrounded by crazy amounts of love and laughter and connection.  These two are all

those three things. They just have this super cute connection and they love and laugh together like

crazy. They are so adorable together. Chelsea was an absolute vision in her Hayley Paige gown and

her bridesmaids were perfect in pink. Also…men in navy…whistle whistle! I love a nice fitting navy suit

on a groom. Cameron looks super stylish next to his gorgeous bride. These two got married right downtown

at Arts Common. I rarely shoot urban wedding photos so it was a nice change from the mountains to shoot

somewhere that was urban with glass and also a gorgeous sandstone building.  We wandered around downtown

for their two photos locations and it was too much fun.  Their reception was filled with laughs and a few tears

and some awesome dance moves! It was one of those weddings that I did not want to leave cause the

dance floor was packed.  I love the dancing part of the night.

Below are some words from the newlyweds and then their wedding story follows.

How did you guys meet ?

Cameron and I met at the University of Lethbridge. We were staying in the same residence and we met at one of

my house parties. We were friends for about 8 months before we started dating in March of 2012.

Please share the proposal story with us?

Cameron shared our engagement story on our wedding website and did a beautiful job 🙂 so here it is:

When I first decided to propose to Chelsea I had so many ideas on how to make it a romantic

occasion, unfortunately none of them worked out. It seems I really don’t have a “romantic bone” in

my body. I had thought about proposing to Chelsea when we first moved into our house

but was too nervous to get the realtor to help. Some coworkers had tried to convince me to propose on our trip to

New Orleans but I was too afraid to bring an expensive ring onto the plane.

I ended up going with a classic Christmas proposal and began making plans to pop the question on Christmas Eve.

I knew Chelsea had a few stipulations for the day, she wanted her nails done and to be in a nice background

and it absolutely HAD to be a surprise. Well it was a surprise!

I made plans with her mom to take her out to get her nails done a few days prior…Step 1 Check!

We ended up coming home from Chelsea’s mom’s house on Christmas Eve much later than expected and

I was running around getting the ring and doing random things like lighting candles and turning on the

Christmas tree for that “romantic feel”

I was finally ready and I dropped down on one knee and said “Chelsea!” meanwhile Chelsea

was cheering on our new puppy Zoey for pooping in the designated location and not really paying much attention to me.

Finally she turned around to see me holding an empty box (the ring had fallen out) and sitting on

one knee waiting to propose. She took a few seconds to realize what was happening and that there was actually a ring!

In the end she did say “Yes!” And I think I had at least 2 out of 3 of the requests accomplished, even if

the dog pooping in the background wasn’t ideal …and I can’t wait to actually marry my bean and spend the rest of my life with her!

Most memorable moment from your wedding day?
Bride: There were so many!
1) Cameron wrote in his letter to “remember to take a moment to take it all in” and I both loved and
needed that. There were moments where I stopped throughout the day to just be humble
and think to myself “how lucky am I?”
2)That epic dip when Blair said “you may now kiss the bride” haha!
3) I also absolutely loved when we sent our bridal party back in the limo and it was just us two doing
photos and all the kisses Cameron kept sneaking in between shots 🙂
Groom: the moment that Chelsea walked into the wedding ceremony. I hadnt seen the dress or any of t
he details and was so in awe of how beautiful she is/was.
Tell me about the special aspect of your day that made it unique to you two?
We didn’t have too many unique to us aspects per se… we didn’t want a church
ceremony because neither of us are really religious and the ceremony and reception in the same
lace. We also chose to do our first dance as our introduction.
Instead of a sand ceremony, Cameron and I talked about doing a “bean ceremony” with coffee beans.
Our nicknames for each other is bean, and we also LOVE coffee, so we thought that would be fun.
However, we thought it was kind of an inside joke, so we decided not to do it at the ceremony. However, one of my gifts
to Cameron on our wedding day was a small bag of blonde roast coffee beans and a small
bag of dark roast coffee beans, so we could do the “bean ceremony” as husband and wife
Besides making the choice to marry each other, what was the easiest decision you made
for your wedding? What made it so easy?
Cameron and I have a weird habit of going with the first thing we look at, such as
condo, house, and it was the exact same with the venue! Arts Commons was perfect for us and it
was the first venue we looked at.
What was the most difficult, time consuming choice that you made for your wedding day?
And advice to couples on this?
The emailing with vendors!! It was super time consuming and kind of tricky to keep track of sometimes.
Sharing your vision and dream of the day with that many people is a tricky work of art haha!
Advice to couples planning their wedding day?
Our advice would have to be to be true your style as a couple and ensure your day represents
both of you. It can be so easy to get swept up in Pinterest ideas and instagram wedding
envy is so real haha, but as long as you always keep it real and true to the who you are
as a couple the day will turn out perfect!
Oh! And let people help you!! I was trying so hard to not be a bridezilla or a demanding bride,
that I ended up doing a lot of planning and prepping myself. Your families and bridal party want to
help and would be happy to lend a hand in any way!
