Jake & Danielle’s Winter Engagement Session

We could not have asked for a better day for this winter engagement session in Canmore.

I deleted and retyped about 10 times saying ” I LOVE WINTER SESSIONS” and then I typed it

one more time cause this is me and if you know me, you know I LOVE WINTER SESSIONS!

I am such a sucker for romantic winter photos and I just melt inside when there is snow on the

ground or fresh now falling. Winter is by far my favorite season to shoot in. It does come with some

struggles but none of those were present at this session. A few things to keep in mind for

winter sessions are of course the temperature. I am really good in any temperature cause I can

dress warm but for engagement sessions I usually say anything colder then -10 lets reschedule.

This day was warmer then that. The other thing to keep in mind is how deep the snow is off

of the paths. It can be a bit of a challenge to get different angles of shots as I try to keep

my couples on the path and then I will wonder off to get the shot. Again not an issue

as this session as there was not alot of snow.

Mild days are best as clients don’t have to wear big bulky outfits and you can shoot

for 45-60 minutes without breaks.

These two cuties were just an absolute dream to shoot…and before you stop and think I

always say that I will explain. What makes sessions go amazing is when couples have total

trust in the process and the posing and they are themselves and just put their love on display.

I LOVE PDA like I love winter so snuggly romantic couples who trust me and my sometimes

weird posing are the perfect fit for me! These two are planning their wedding at

Willow Lane Barn and I can not wait to celebrate their day with them!

How & when did you two meet? What was your first date?

Jake and I met Jr High school in grade 8. I was in a uniform program and he was in a sports program. We became best
friends right away and would not listen when friends told us we would get married one day. We stayed best friends all
through Jr high and High school and Jake snuck out of the friend zone 2 years after high school. Our first “real date” was
to a stampeders game with my mom and sister. Jake was trying to impress at lunch- and ended up drinking a whole
bottle of wine with my mom instead of saying he didn’t like wine. Our first “real date alone” was August 2015 where we
went for ice cream and to elbow falls.

Do you have all time favorite date you’ve been on?
We cannot just pick 1… it would be to Elbow Falls or one of our many trips to the mountains. We love to spend a
weekend in the mountains just the two of us with no plans and just explore.
What is your favorite trip or experience you two have done together? What made it so special?
Our favorite experience would be Christmas 2017. Jake surprised me with a puppy and we named him Gifford.
Favorite trip would be Dominican for his moms wedding.. Lots of time with family, nice weather, and relaxing pool side.

If you were coming home from a day out on your own and you wanted to surprise your significant other with a
treat/drink/gift what would it be?
His answer: Flowers or a nice steak dinner
Her answer: I would bring Jake chocolate milk lol…. he loves it
