Brandon & Shala’s Intimate Winter Wedding Photos

Winter wedding or summer wedding does not ever guarantee that you will have beautiful weather
for your wedding and that was the case for these two. Brandon and Shala got married on
New Years Eve and although I was not the one to photograph it, I saw the photos and it was stunning.
But, New Years Eve just happened to be the coldest day of winter in Calgary and bundling up in 3 layers
including a parka and ski pants just is not an option for brides and grooms. Their wedding photographer is a
family friend and captured some absolutely beautiful images. But with the cold and the sun setting
at 4pm the time they had for photos was just not enough for these two who happen to love having
their photos taken. It is not every day that I get a groom who loves photos but Brandon does and they do
are so photogenic together. I had photographed their friends and will be photographing another one
of the couples friends this summer so they were familiar with my work and asked me to capture them in their
wedding attire in the mountains. They loved their wedding photos but like me, they wanted to have a different
style for this shoot. This is kinda like what my husband and I do every two years. We hire a different photographer
to capture us. It is fun for me to see how they work and it is awesome to have unique images from our previous
sessions. And let me tell you something about the weather on this day. It was about 45 degrees warmer….no joke!
This March day was unseasonably warm at PLUS 10 degrees! The snow was melting and we were actually kinda
sweating from all the adventuring we were doing in the snow ha ha. It was the perfect day to spend two hours
outside with these two newlyweds.
