I don’t know how I got so lucky to get such amazing couples but I count my blessings

at every wedding cause I truly do get amazing, laid back, adventurous and totally

romantic couples and Sean & Marlies are all of those things! From the moment we met

at their consult I knew we were a great fit and I nervously waited for them to email me

and let me know that I was also the right fit for them and when they did I naturally did a

little happy dance and then played it somewhat cool and emailed them back ha ha!  As a

wedding photographer it is so important for me to connect with my couples and them to me and

not just for them to connect to my style but to how I shoot and my personality.  And after

seven years of shooting weddings I have learnt that I am not the right fit for every couple

that emails me and that it totally okay.  Sean & Marlies’ laid back personalities, ability to

laugh together and their sense of adventure was what instantly made me feel like my

style was a match for them. In fact we adventured to a waterfall for their engagement session.

Sean and Marlies got married at Rundleview Parkette in Canmore and had

their reception at the Cornerstone Theatre. Cornerstone Theatre is a gorgeous Canmore Wedding Venue

that has a intimate and rustic feel withamazing staff and fantastic food!

If you are looking for a Canmore wedding location then

Rundleview is a stunning place to get married as it has views all around. There is two ways to set up

the ceremony location and I personally prefer the way they had it as it works better for the lighting

and I think the trees behind them are so pretty!  They had a gorgeous ceremony arch decorated by

Willow Flower Company and all their little ceremony details were so gorgeous.  Marlies

stunning two piece dress from The Bridal Boutique was so stunning and can we just

talk about her bridesmaids dresses…WOW! I posted a photo of them on instagram and

it went slightly viral and over 30,000 viewed it which is about 5x more then any other photo

of mine ever! Their wedding party was so amazing for photos, they rocked all the poses and

looked pretty fricken good too…both the boys and the girls.  Below are a few words from

the bride and groom and then their wedding story follows!

How did you guys meet ?
At the University of Lethbridge while on a ski trip in Whitefish, MT.
Please share the proposal story with us?
Sean had planned a romantic weekend because we had planned to go horseback riding
in Canmore. He took Marlies to Emerald Lake in June of 2016, and while arriving just
before they were closing down the Canoe rentals for the night, the two of them got on.
While in the middle of Emerald Lake, Marlies saw it as a great photo opportunity and
started taking selfies of the two of them on the canoe. As Marlies turned to give Sean’s
phone back, there he sat, holding the ring. We look back at the pictures, and laugh as he
was holding the ring in the selfies, as Marlies remained oblivious.

Besides making the choice to marry each other, what was the easiest decision
you made for your wedding? What made it so easy?
Choosing to get married in Canmore because we both love going to Canmore and the
feeling of serenity and peace in the mountains.

What was the most difficult, time consuming choice that you made for your
wedding day? And advice to couples on this?
Choosing music! We wanted songs that were unique, fun, and true to us. We focused on
music that would please the majority of our guests. My best advice would be to start
thinking about music early, and to not second guess yourself.

Advice to couples planning their wedding day?
Both the bride and groom be involved to help make decisions (Sean was awesome!!!).
Delegate specific jobs to those who are willing to help, but never involve too many
people in decisions.  Focus on what the two of you want.

I always tell my couples to wait to exchange gifts until I arrive as I love being able to capture the moments when they read their card and open their gifts. I just love shooting groom prep so much. As a solo shooter I start my day with groom prep and then i head over to the bride and

I just adore telling the whole story of the day. And there is always time to have a drink and make a toast before I leave How cute are these PJ sets that Marlies got her girls?It was so cute when Marlies opened her gift cause Sean bought her the same earrings she was actually wearing but in a different color. I just love first looks and how intimate they are.This wedding party…so stylish! Just loved the colors. Everything about the girls style was perfect from the three colors of dresses to the gorgeous florals and Marlies’ floral crown…all perfect! This bouquet by Willow Flower Company is stunning!  A big gorgeous bouquet really completes the bridal look and adds to much to the photos. The Cornerstone Theatre is so beautiful and I am so excited that this is just my first of many weddings there.
