I am just so smitten with this Canmore Winter Engagement Session!  Matt & Katrina

booked one of my winter midi session as a kinda for fun session married couple session.

They had already done engagement and wedding photos with another photographer so

they were naturals in front of the camera. It was cold and windy so being extremely

photogenic and easy to work with worked in their favor as I was able to shoot their

25 minute midi session in more like 15 minutes. It was short and quick and amazing!

Also their winter style was spot on!

Here are some words from the cute couple!

How & when did you two meet? What was your first date?

We actually technically met at Calgary Ukrainian Festival in June of 2011. Trina was dancing/performing

at the festival and Matt was there to watch his sisters dance/perform. We met through a mutual friend

who was attending the festival to watch Trina perform. We didn’t reconnect however until 9

months later in March of 2012 at the same friend’s birthday party! Matt almost didn’t attend the

party as he wasn’t even supposed to be home (the hockey season didn’t go as planned and he

was home earlier than expected) and when he did, he almost left the party early because he

didn’t know many people (Katrina also came unusually late as she had a dance rehearsal).

As Matt was preparing to leave the party, he saw Katrina and decided to stay and the rest is history!

You could say it was fate! Our first date was a few weeks later! We just went for a drink and appetizers at a

local restaurant, talked so much we closed the place down! It was perfect!

Do you have all time favorite date you’ve been on?
His answer: All of them! They continue to get better and better.
Her answer: ​Our first Valentine’s Day together. He had all of these plans – old school
candy store, Greek dinner, dessert at the Chocolate Bar, and then a movie at the
old movie theatre in Kensington. None of it went according to plan! The dessert place closed down
the week before. The movie theatre was closed due to an electrical problem. Our reservation
for dinner didn’t exist. The candy store had reduced hours. He had tried so hard and planned so
much and was so upset that none of it worked out. It was just so sweet and thoughtful and we just made
the most of it by doing things on the fly (something I am not very good at). It was perfect!
What is your favorite trip or experience you two have done together? What made it so special?
I think we would both say our honeymoon in Italy and Greece. It was the first big
trip we had taken together (we had been on other big trips but they were with family or
friends so it was the first big trip with just the two of us). Matt had never been out of North America
and these were two countries in Europe that Trina had never been to. We got to experience all of
these new things, places, people, food, etc. together, just the two of us. Both places were also both
so incredibly romantic which helped but we just spent two weeks together doing nothing but having fun,
enjoying our first few weeks of marriage together adn experiencing all of these firsts together.
It was amazing!
If you were coming home from a day out on your own and you wanted to
surprise your significant other with a treat/drink/gift what would it be?
His answer: Pasta dinner or Peters milkshake, red roses, Starbucks skinny vanilla latte!
Her answer: Lego, some form of fast food burger (likely Burger King whopper) or sweet (donut, cake.
Current Binge Watch on your TV?
Tiger King haha (although the Lord of the Rings movies we have recently completed –
Katrina has never seen them!)

His answer: Trina obviously!

Who is more likely to get a speeding ticket?
His answer: My wife! But I don’t know, it could be me haha!
Her answer: Both!
Who is more of goof?
His answer: Matt!
Her answer: Matt 100%
Who is first to get up in the morning?
His answer: Matt (I’m the first awake for sure, maybe not out of bed … haha)

Her answer: No way it’s Matt. Trina all the way.
