Sometimes I shock myself on how far behind I fall in blogging. I feel like it is one of those

things that if you do not do it regularly or right after my clients get their images then I fall

behind and end up with this giant backlog of blogs. Take this session, this session was fall 2020

and I am just blogging it and they got married May of 2021 and I have not blogged it yet!

Oh the life of a photographer! But better now then never. Why blogs are important.

I would think the two main reasons photographers blog sessions are

1. to show more variety from a session/share their work. We regularly post to social media but this is usually just a handful of images from a session. Blogs show more of the session. Most experts will say you blog for your future clients. So they will see your work and decide if style is a good fit
2. the other reason is 100% SEO. This means search engine optimization. Or google ranking. So to show up higher in search results for things like Calgary Engagement Photographer or Calgary Wedding Photographer. Photograhers pay thousands for experts to improve their seo and even then it is not guaranteed that you can get on or stay on page one of these searches. So yes it is important for SEO but very hard to acheive a good ranking. Mine is really poor even though I have years and years of content blogged. That is ok, most of my clients come from word of mouth referrals (the ultimate compliment from past clients) or from social media.

So in saying all of that, here is another blog for both of the reasons above, plus just because

it brings me joy to share my work,  to show my style and what a session looks like with me.

There is countless photographers in the Calgary area but my hope is that my blogs find my future clients

who fall in love with my style of editing and posing. And want to hire me to document their connection!
