Another wedding to share at a bucket list wedding venue for me!  The Lake House is an absolutely

stunning Calgary Wedding Venue and when David & Lauren asked me to photograph their day

there I was so fricken happy! I am getting into that wedding season wrap up time with getting 

my clients their images is my number one priority so I am going to keep this blog post short and

sweet and let their images tell the story of their day.  David & Lauren wanted to keep the

time between their ceremony & reception short and sweet so that their guests weren’t

waiting around.  When there is a tight time frame between ceremony and reception it is

best to do the photos ahead of time. These two opted out of a first look so instead I did

photos of David and his guys before the ceremony and photos of Lauren and her girls

before their ceremony. This freed up most of the photo time after the ceremony for

family photos and images of the bride & groom. Before I share their wedding images here

Here are a few words from the Newlyweds

Through mutual friends and actually were setup to meet a couple of times and timing didn’t work out. Lauren

had also moved in across the hall, so they would see each other time to time in the elevator and hallway.  it wasn’t until she

moved out we then had our first date which included David making homemade dorioto nachos and movies.

Well where do I start…. First my nerves were already going a mile a minute even before we travelled

to Cape Breton (where it happened) as I had to somehow get the ring on a plane without her knowing.

I didn’t want to pack it my checked luggage for the possibility my bag gets lost. So the only option was

on in my carry on and that caused more nerves as I did not want to be randomly selected or they see this

box and wanted to know what the contents were and if that was the case this proposal story would end

with my getting down on one knee at the security check point and propose to Lauren. Thankfully that

did not happen and made it all the way to Cape Breton ring intact.

The day of the engagement, hmmm well first trying to sneak off from Lauren to get

things planned was a task in itself so the morning of I told her the truck needed gas and I would be

back after, and Lauren insisted she come with as she wanted coffee… So I somehow convinced her I would only

be a few minutes and my mom had already made coffee and breakfast. So I had 20 minutes to get the ring hidden

in the truck, go to the liquor store to buy champagne and find toasting glasses for after the big moment.

What I didn’t realize the liquor store did not open until 11am and here I was at 10:45 pacing back and forth for

the doors to open!! Thankfully I was not the only person.

So that day we travelled to one of my favorite places in Cape Breton called Cape Smokey Lookoff

which is an unbelievable view point of the ocean

On the drive up it started to rain and overcast and in my mind this was happening no matter what, even

if it was a monsoon I was proposing to Lauren today. So we arrived and somehow I needed to get the ring into my pocket

without her noticing! So we as we arrived the exact spot I forgot the “selfie stick” in the truck

and had to run back and get it! *cue fist pump*

Once the ring was in my pocket my heart was beating a million miles an hour and then came the

question and……. she said YES and it made me the happiest person in the world.
