How did you hear about RBP?
I originally came across RBP while researching wedding photographers in Calgary.
I soon realized that a mutual friend, who also happens to be our fabulous hairstylist, had done
a few shoots with Monica. I loved everything about her photos – the settings,
the posing, the lighting, and just how natural everyone looked in her photos. I have continued to
follow her work through Facebook and Instagram and constantly find myself saving photos
for “a later date” because I fall in love with new poses and settings all the time!
Why did you book a boudoir session?
2020 was the year that I spent working on myself. I ended my marriage, started therapy
on a regular basis and dug very deep to find who I really am as a woman. By the end of summer
I was feeling so confident in knowing myself and loving myself that it seemed more
than fitting to book a boudoir shoot. What better way to feel truly beautiful in your own skin!
Having followed Monica for years and reading/hearing such rave reviews of
her boudoir sessions, it was a no-brainer that I would book with her!
Do you remember what drew you to Monica’s style ?
Lighting was one of the first things I noticed and alongside that was her studio.
I love how much love she puts into her work and her studio. It truly shows when working with
her and through her photography. Without knowing Monica personally, her “online personality”
is infectious as well. She is so easy going and funny! Reading feedback from past
boudoir babes, it was also very encouraging to hear how great and supportive Monica was
throughout the boudoir shoot for her clients. Initially it can be an intimidating thought,
but she made the whole process so easy and natural.
How did you feel leading up to the session?
Initially when I booked there was a tiny bit of nerves. As the day of my shoot approached,
I could only feel excitement. A little bit of stress goes into picking outfits, especially when
she posts a new babe on Instagram and all of a sudden you fall in love with a “new look”
or lingerie set! I definitely have my besties to thank for helping narrow down that
difficult choice! Working with Bobi prior to the shoot for hair and makeup also added to the
excitement. Bobi and I got a long very well and quickly found a lot in
common. Having her do my hair and makeup only added to the excitement for the shoot!
How did you feel during the session?
Very relaxed and sexy! Monica is THE BEST for reminding you of how great your
booty looks, or how great a pose accentuates your figure. I felt so at ease
throughout the whole shoot and the time just flew by!
How did seeing your final images make you feel?
I cried, the happiest and proudest tears! I embraced my body just the way it is during
my shoot and it showed in the final images. I constantly look back and smile, seeing the
happiness and strength I could see in myself through these photos. Although some of the
photos are a little “too revealing” for the internet, I often find myself wanting
to share them because I am so happy with how they make me feel to this day!
What would you say to friends thinking about doing a boudoir session?
I tell my friends all the time “YOU HAVE TO DO IT!!!” I will preach it for years,
for every body type, and every woman in my life! My boudoir shoot was one of the greatest
experiences and I feel that the love for myself that I felt before, during and even more
after was so important for my mental health. I can only imagine it would do the same
for many other women! We need to spend more time celebrating our bodies
the way they are instead of nitpicking our “flaws”.
