Surprise proposal in Kananaskis – Tristen & Kelsey

Ahhhhhhhhh….I do not even know where to start with this super sweet surprise
proposal in Kananaskis. I still can’t even believe it that I got to be part of such an
amazing moment. I was shaking and crying behind my camera! Kelsey was totally
shocked when she turned around to find Tristen on one knee!
But want to know a secret! This session didn’t start out as a proposal. I wanted to do a
shoot in the mountains with a white lace dress and a boho hat with florals on it. I had
photographed Kelsey twice before and I know she has great style and that her and her then
boyfriend Tristen would be perfect for the session. I sent her a message and she was instantly
excited for the session. Well just a few short moments later her best friend, who happens to be
my personal hair stylist, a friend and a long time client sent me a text! She said Tristen was
planning to propose in the near future and the two of them thought this shoot would be
the perfect time for him to pop the question!
I almost dropped my phone with excitement! A dream photoshoot and a proposal all in one!
The date was set and Kelsey thought she was just modeling for a session with me! She had done
that before so it was nothing out of the ordinary. We headed to the mountains and her best
friend Paige came along “for hair touchups” but really so she could be a part of the moment and
capture a video of the proposal. We started their session just like any other session and set the scene
and then about 15 minutes in I set up “the pose” to get Kelsey to turn her back to Tristen so he could
dig out the ring and then she turned around and he asked her! Ahhhhh it was so amazing and
romantic! Then we celebrated and cried and then we continued shooting and they were nothing but
smiles! These two planned their wedding for this coming September but it will have to wait another
year due to COVID. So we will party and celebrate in 2021 together!
