Vernon Wedding Photographer
Devon & Justine’s Timber Ridge Trails Wedding
Red Bloom Photography
I don’t even know where to start with this stunning Vernon Wedding. Lets start by how we
connected for the wedding. I shot Devon’s brothers wedding 3 years ago and they have been
the most amazing clients and refer me to all of their friends. The biggest compliment to
me as a wedding photographer is your referrals. It means the world to me when my couples
refer me to friends and family. When I met Justine emailed me about their Vernon wedding,
I was like wait September 3rd??? No way, I already have a wedding in Kelowna on September 4th
so it worked out great that I traveled there for both wedding. Justine got ready at the most beautiful
little B&B. It was like a photographers playground. All these cute little rooms and vintage furniture.
I focused on two rooms for the same reason ….the light. One had lots of light and one had hardly any.
Well I love light bright photos, there is something so beautiful about very moody
window light and you will see some of these photos towards the end of bridal prep. The boys
prep was in a local hotel and like all groom prep it was short and sweet, like they do in 15 minutes
what we do in 1 hour or longer ha ha! Devon & Justine got married at the stunning…like STUNNING
Timber Ridge Trails. Their ceremony was outdoors with the mountains surrounding them and then
the property is stunning tree lined pathways. So the thing is, there was a 0% chance of rain on their
wedding day. Like 0% everytime we checked the weather app is said sunny but nope it rained
alot and not just sprinkled it really rained. But this awesome photographer always has
umbrellas in my car. So well we shot in the rain, their amazing friends and family transformed
their partially outdoor reception. They brought white tent covers to put over the tables and moved
some of the tables under the main structure. It really made the wedding so intimate that
everyone pulled together to make this outdoor reception amazing. So we shot in the rain like
most weddings this summer and lucky for us sometimes it slowed down so we shot like crazy
when the rain was light. And after photos we moved into the most intimate beautiful
outdoor reception. Everyone was cuddling under their coats and blankets and the
candles twinkled. Like the photos really can’t capture that energy and feeling. I loved
that Devon & Justine has an open mic. So many sweet and funny stories came out of it. And I am
going to leave this little tip with you, be prepared to possibly pay to have your photographer
stay an extra hour. Alot of receptions run over in time so ask them about the costs ahead of
time and be prepared to pay for that extra hour. Okay and now here are some
words from the bride & groom.
How did you guys meet?
Devon and I met in July 2012 when I started a new job working on the construction of the new
runway in Calgary. Devon and I worked for separate companies, but due to the nature
of the work we saw each other every day – we started dating a month later.
Please share the proposal story with us?
Devon had concocted a few different ways to propose (so I was told) but I somehow always
cancelled plans or changed them, ultimately making him come up with new plans. Devon even
went as far as to call the Calgary airport and request access to the portion of the project
where we first met (for obvious reason they denied his request).
Devon said that one day, after I had cancelled a lunch he intended to propose at,
he spoke to his dad who said “what are you waiting for? Just do it”
So that night, shortly after midnight, Devon proposed to me in front of a large group of family and friends.
Most memorable moment from your wedding day?
Bride: Hearing Devon’s vows
Groom: When Justine walked down the aisle
Advice to couples planning their wedding day?
Just have fun with it – it’s still your big day and there’s no sense worrying about something you can’t control.
The rain on our wedding day, though unexpected, added to the atmosphere! All the guests
joined forces to make everything possible, the teamwork and the effort that everyone put
forward made our day extra special and it felt as though two families had really become one.

Devon & Justine’s Wedding Story….
Justine made this amazing bouquet herselfHa ha…probably my fav groomsman picI just love this room and the light in it….so amazingHow cute is this moment?!?In love with these two portraitsThese rustic details were just the cutestDevon was doing all sorts of things with his hands to hold back the emotion. It was cute, there is like 4 different shots of his hands moving and changing. This ceremony site though! AMAZINGHe grabbed the wrong ring from the best man ha haThese outfits though! 2016 really is the year of style for the boys. I mean the girls look amazing too but love seeing the change from a suitJust amazing! It started to pour on them and they literally ran down the hill. One of these men gets married next weekend so you will be seeing alot more of him soon! She carried her dad with her on the wedding day . I kinda love that it started to rain for the girls photos cause so cuteI LOVE walking photos. Like so much. They are so relaxed and thats when the best smiles happen. When I told Devon photos were done this is the smile I got ha ha
I put their rings on their guestbook and i love how it turned out.
Mid way through the reception transformation. Tables were covered with plastic to protect things. The guests brought these tents over from their camping sites. And under the tents these gorgeous details were revealedThis cake table by the grooms sister in law was AMAZING And transformed to a covered reception and the sun actually came out again ha haAlways time for a selfieThe best entrance ever! All the reception photos have all the best feels! So much happiness! Truly a very intimate weddingMore weddings like this please!
