So happy to share another beautiful wedding with another one of my amazing couples.

Nick & Sarah had a intimate wedding at one of the cutest little venues in the Calgary

area. They chose Water Valley Church to host their closest friends and family for their

intimate outdoor wedding.  This venue is so absolutely perfect for an intimate wedding.

Sarah got ready in the cutest little Gazebo that is on the property and after doing a private

first look with Nick they had their ceremony in this quaint church. Afterwards we header out

on this scorcher of a day for photos…not gonna lie this was one of the hottest days

that I have shot on. I was melting ha ha. We tried to find some shade for a bit of a break from the

heat but when that wasn’t enough I gave them  a mini break to cool down in the truck.  I really

wanted to go to the River for some photos so we want to the campground where they had

parked their own trailer to find some water. But of course we had the same idea as every other

person in Water Valley that day and the river was packed. But this adventurous couple

said heck yes to beating our way off the beaten path and through the bush to get to a more

private part of the river and it was so worth it.  The light was beautiful and there was a ever

so slight breeze off the water.

Please share the proposal story with us? 

We were on our way to have our annual birthday celebration in Banff (his birthday is December 14th and mine is the 18th)

and we had some time to kill before we could check into our hotel so we decided to drive around the

Minnewanka Loop. We stopped at one of our favorite spots, Johnson Lake, it was -30 out that day and

Nick insisted we had to get out of the vehicle to take some pictures. I reluctantly agreed to get

out and walk down for some pictures since it was so cold out! We snapped a few pictures and the next

thing I know Nick was down on one knee with the ring and asked me to marry him! The rest of the day we

were on cloud nine and had the best time celebrating in Banff!

It was so amazing getting to see each other before the ceremony and have that special moment together.

We think it took a lot of the nerves away too.

When you look back on your day, how would you describe it in 1-2 sentences to people who

ask about your wedding? 

It was so intimate! Exactly how we wanted our special day to be. We celebrated with a small group

of people who we love and know us best.

What was the easiest vendor or wedding related decision you made for your wedding day?

and why was it so easy?

There are so many photographers out there that it can be overwhelming to start. We knew the style of

photography we wanted and when we found Monica we knew it would be the perfect fit! After meeting

her for our engagement shoot we were even more assured we made the right decision. She is an amazing photographer,

she puts you at ease and makes you feel totally comfortable!

What was the hardest decision you made for your wedding day? what made it so harder then the others?

Trying to find a perfect venue for the intimate wedding we wanted was difficult. We went back and

forth on where and when we wanted to do it. Then we stumbled upon the Water Valley Church Event Centre

online, we went out to see it shortly after and fell in love. With so many options out there and limited date

availability choosing a venue can be difficult but we couldn’t be happier with our decision!

Advice to couples planning their initmate wedding day? 

No matter what do what will make you two happy! This is your day and it’s something you’ll

always look back on and remember. Don’t worry about other people and their expectations,

worry about what will make your day special and memorable!

And now here is Nick & Sarah’s Wedding Story

This cute building was the perfect setting for Sarah to get into her dress. When she was getting ready her dog Cricket was never far from her side. Nick & Sarah chose to do a private first look just moments before the ceremony and when he saw her he gave her a little whistle. So cute. It was such a treat to work with a small wedding party. Sometimes there is 7 on each side and I am trying to get them all to pay attention but these two were a breeze to work with. And a few of their rustic details from the day.
