Kananaskis Engagement Photos
Bryan & Clarissa’s Adventurous Mountain Engagement Session
Red Bloom Photography
I jump for joy every single time that my couples ask for a mountain engagement session! I always
am at awe of these beautiful mountains that are so close to us and as a lover of adventure and
hiking myself it makes me so happy when my couples are the same and crave adventure
for their engagement photos. Bryan & Clarissa’s engagement session was not the first time I met them,
I actually have been at several weddings with them. In fact just last September we were at a wedding in
Vernon together and I took a photo of them together and joked for them to email me when it is their
turn…they replied, oh we will! and they did ha ha. Then Clarissa was a bridesmaid in a beautiful October
wedding that I shot in Canmore and then I was lucky enough to spend a week in Mexico with them
in January. We spent alot of time pool side discussing wedding planning and drinking cocktails ha ha.
So by the time their engagement session came around we were good pals and they were no strangers
to my camera, partially cause of the being a bridemaid and groomsmen in previous weddings but also
cause of their mad dance floor skills that caught the attention of my camera at their friends weddings!
So just in February my husband and I adventured to Kananaskis with these two for their snowy winter
engagement session. Having went to the location just a week earlier with my location scouting buddy
I knew that there was alot of snow so I warned them to dress warm, wear boots and be prepared to go
off the beaten path. I knew if anyone was up for it it was them as they are true adventurous souls.
And off the path and hip deep in snow we went ha ha! But it was worth it to get onto the frozen lake and
to the good locations! I hope you agree when you see the photos!
Okay, enough blabbing from me! Here are some words from these two cuties!
What is your guys idea of a perfect day together?
Bryan: Early rise to hit the gym or take the pups for a nice long walk. Grab coffees, and make
breakfast together and chat through the morning. Going to a couples massage and getting some
lunch at a nearby cafe or pub prior to a relaxing afternoon drive out to Waiprous or the mountains.
End the day off with a nice dinner a couple glasses or bottles of wine together and playing a
game of chess, reading or watching a good movie.
Clarissa: Sundays are my most favorite day with Bryan, we generally will hit up a yummy
breakfast place or get up early to make an amazing breakfast together, along with hilarious
banter between one another. Also, who doesn’t love couch snuggles with their favorite person in the
whole world, along with our two amazing pups!? Venturing outdoors, to the mountains or nearby parks,
hunting for records with coffee’s in hand, resisting the urge to buy out the whole shop at once. In the evening,
a good glass of wine or bottle, as Bryan said, sitting by the fire, playing a good game of chess (a game we learnt together,
during our adventures in Thailand). Most of all any day with Bryan is my idea of a perfect day together.
What are you most looking forward to about your wedding day?
Bryan: Watching Clarissa walk down the aisle in her wedding dress and giving a solid
effort towards preventing my ass from sobbing like a child that dropped his lollipop in the sand.
Then toasting my boys, great friends and family once the hard parts are over.
Clarissa: The first look on Bryan’s face, as I come down the aisle, sharing this amazing
day with all our close friends and family.
What’s one part or decision about wedding planning that Is easier then you thought
and one part that Is harder then you thought?
Easier: Picking a venue. After a lot of research and discussion of what we both wanted
for the day of “I Do’s”; we hopped into black beauty and went on a quest to The Lodge
at Panther River resort located West of Sundre, AB in early November of 2016. This was before Bryan even
had a ring or an inkling of a clue of how he was going to propose. So, we met with Amanda (planner and lifesaver),
and she guided us around the site with the pups in tow, checking out the campsites, the barn / reception area,
the ceremony location next to the river; and it was perfect. We both knew that this is where we would
begin the rest of our lives together. We ended it off with a couple glasses of wine in the
lodge and placed our names on the dotted lines.
Harder: Guest List. Period. Listing out the names, checking, and re-checking that you’ve included all of the right people.
And now B&C’s engagement photos
That red scarf was the perfect pop of color for the photos. These two are just too cute! I love cheek kissesThe most perfect winter wonderland location! I love winter engagement sessionsOne of my favs from their sessionI LOOOOOOVE this bridge and lucky for us we didn’t have to many other hikers this day so only had to move aside a few times for them to pass. And onto the frozen lake we went…only took going through hip deep snow to get here though ha haBlanket cuddles are always a good ideaThose mountains…they are so beautiful and the perfect backdrop
