Lance & Darielle’s Camp Chief Hector Wedding
Red Bloom Photography
I will say it over and over again that I really do get the most laid back adventurous couples.
When you fall wedding turns into a winter snow storm wedding and you embrace it and
smile the whole day….well you get the title of laid back and adventurous. And that is exactly what
these two did. Lance & Darielle planned their beautiful mountain wedding at the stunning location
of Camp Chief Hector. Their ceremony was outside in the middle of the woods and the chilly October
day did not change any of their plans. They said their I DO’s next to a fire place and their family
and friends cuddled under blankets and in each others arms as they got married in a short
ceremony and little flakes of snow started to make their way down. After the ceremony we did
their family photos in the mostly dry field but as we finished down came the snow in blankets.
As a very experienced rainy day photographer I had lots of umbrellas in my car so we headed off to our first
location and we shot in the snow. So many people ask me what their options are for rainy days….well
first of all when you are at a remote location in the middle of nowhere there are no options. But also
even in the city like where do you think you are going to take 10-20 people for wedding photos. My
adventurous couples are always game for some umbrella photos as they are way better then a hotel
lobby! But in saying all that, lucky for us this uber adorable canoe rack had an overhang so we did alot
of the photo under the over hang….Expect me of course. I was not under it. You can see that behind the
scenes on my instagram. Alright enough blabbing from me. Here are some words from the Bride & Groom
How did you guys meet ?
Dee had just moved to Sylvan Lake on her internship, working for a youth group. Lance volunteered
at the same youth group. Dee was drawn to Lance because of his witty sarcasm and they
have been trying to one up each other ever since.
Please share the proposal story with us?
Lance picked up Dee early in the morning to go to Jasper for the day. Dee believed that she was
joining Lance on a day trip for work. Attempting to throw Dee off. Lance took her on a hike to malign canyon.
Dee had a feeling he would propose and kept pausing on the hike so that there was time for Lance to propose,
but to her surprise Lance decided to wait until later in the evening to propose at pyramid lake.
Most memorable moment from your wedding day?
Bride – I loved after pictures there was about 10 minutes where we got to sit on a couch and relax
just the two of us. It wasn’t as though anything special was said or any exact memory. It was just the relaxing
together as we were in the midst of our wedding day and how that would be similar to the rest of our marriage.
Relaxing with one another in the midst of the business of life.
Groom – Watching Dee walk around the trees coming into the ceremony.
The first look. Seeing her with her dad and the smile on her face.
(Sidebar by Monica…when Dee saw Lance she smiled ear to ear and whispered to her dad
“oh he looks so handsome!” How sweet is that)
Tell me about the special aspects of your day that made it unique to you two?
Being married outside infront of a fire. We both love the outdoors and we both love camping.
We also loved the beauty of being in the mountains and yet finding a hall that was big enough for all the people
that we love. The wedding was fairly relaxed and that was what we were hoping for.
Advice to couples planning their wedding day?
Make sure you have time to enjoy yourselves. With lots of gaps in between events to spend as
much time with your new spouse as you can. (Bride) I think it is super important to do everything you can to
have a wedding day you imagined on all the days leading up to the wedding, but on the actual wedding day,
relax and enjoy it, something will probably go wrong, something will probably seem strange, but in the end you’re marrying
the one you hope to spend the rest of your life with, so celebrate that day the best you can.
