How did you hear about RBP?
I heard about Monica’s services on Instagram and followed her boudoir account
for over a year before I booked a session for myself.
Why did you book a boudoir session?
I booked a boudoir session for myself as a way to celebrate my body and sensuality. I wanted this session
to feel like a sacred and powerful ritual and it totally did!
Do you remember what drew you to Monica’s style ?
Honestly I love EVERYTHING about Monica’s style! Her sets, the overall tone and mood of her
photos, the poses, and her obvious expertise with lighting and editing made me want to work with her.
I also really resonated with her energy and personality from what I could see in her Stories, and I knew she
would create a comfortable environment in her studio. I appreciated seeing all different sizes and
shapes of bodies on her feed before I booked, and her ‘no body altering’ policy (but ability to cover up temporary
bumps, bruises, and blemishes) felt really reassuring, too. I bruise quite easily and
didn’t want those captured for posterity, but I also still wanted to recognize myself in
the photos instead of being airbrushed into a stranger.
How did you feel leading up to the session?
LIKE A GODDESS!! This was my first session with Monica but my third boudoir session overall,
so I didn’t have any jitters this time around (though I had a ton of butterflies before my
first boudoir experience!) Before this particular session, I felt excited and really embodied.
How did you feel during the session?
Like the world’s biggest babe, haha!! Monica has such a knack for disarming any lingering
feelings of self-consciousness or awkwardness while she shoots, and I literally felt like I was a
living incarnation of Venus the whole time I was in the studio. Monica is so affirming and
professional while also being incredibly down to earth and easy to talk to! Being posed down to the
millimetre was also great because I knew I could trust her to get the most flattering
images every single time.
How did seeing your final images make you feel?
I nearly DIED when I first logged into my image gallery! I was really excited to see
the pictures but still felt bowled over by how utterly amazing and clearly professional they were!
I felt like a world class model looking at my final images, and it was a no-brainer to
upgrade and order the whole set. (It seriously would have been impossible
to narrow the images down otherwise!)
If it was a gift to yourself did you have a favorite pose, image or area of the studio?
Even though this session was a gift to myself, I also ended up sharing some of the images
online and actively invited people to celebrate them with me in my DMs (which I then posted
anonymously in my Stories to create a 24-hour community boudoir afterparty!) I felt like a rockstar
goddess queen basking in all of the comments and appreciation that came through, and everyone who
participated felt uplifted and joyful, too! Although I can’t possibly choose a single favourite pose
or image out of my sets, I’m proud of myself for doing a series of nudes and semi-nudes
for the first time and will love having these beautiful images forever.
What would you say to friends thinking about doing a boudoir session?
You will thank yourself for the rest of your life if you gift yourself this experience
and these images! Yes, it might be scary leading up to the session. You might feel nervous or
insecure. You might think of all the more ‘practical’ things you could spend money on. But I promise
that you will NEVER regret having Monica take your photos in her studio! This is one of the most
powerful, affirming, and activating experiences you can ever give to yourself.
