Mark & Saphron’s Intimate Acreage Wedding
Red Bloom Photography
There is so much to say about this beautiful intimate acreage wedding. It was a dreamy morning from
the moment I drove up to the property at 7:00 am and the morning fog rolled over the hills. The property
was set for this perfect brunch wedding, wooden tables laid out with the perfect fall accents and a ceremony
location overlooking the gorgeous rolling hills and their beautiful horses. The energy was so calm as they
prepared for the day. Mark & Saphron chose to do a private first look before their ceremony and the cloud
cover gave a nice soft light. After their first look we walked up a rather large hill for some amazing views!
I could barely breathe after the little hike but it was worth it to have 360 degree views!
After their photos, they said their I Do’s and their personal vows in front of their closest friends and
family and as they exited the ceremony the sky opened up. Everyone rushed inside for hugs and brunch
and mimosas. The rain held out for just the right amount of time. Alright enough blabbing from me and now
some words from the newlyweds.
How did you guys meet ?
We met at work. We worked at the same company for several years but were in different
divisions so hadn’t actually talked until we were both asked to present at a “Take your daughter
to work” day since we each had the most interesting careers in our respective divisions. Mark
talked about how he had been an apiarist and I just knew I had to find out more about him.
Please share the proposal story with us?
Mark was amazing and I had no idea it was coming. We were in Coeur D’Alene hiking with my
mom and our dogs. The first morning there was a mist on the lake and Mark, the dog and I were
standing on a rocky outcropping at the edge of the lake. Mark started to drop to his knee and I
just blurted out “This had better not be a joke, is this real?!”. We have the beautiful moment in
pictures as my mom had her camera with her and caught the whole proposal. The best part of
the photos is the dog is with us, gets bored, leaves, swims, and comes back clearly wondering
why we haven’t moved on. It was slightly dangerous for me to keep hiking because I was staring
at the ring and tripped on plenty of rocks and roots! To make my ring even more special, the
focal stone is the same stone from my Grandmother’s engagement ring, passed to my parents
in my Mom’s engagement ring, and then was passed to Mark to incorporate in my ring.
Most memorable moment from your wedding day?
Bride:
Hard to pick just one, but all moments where we laughed. The Ceremony where the Officiant
was cutting whole sections out just to beat the thunderstorm, Mark holding my hand with his
coat over my shoulders as I stuffed my face with a cinnamon bun walking up the hill to our
photoshoot location, the dogs’ ties, saying “I’m off to find my HUSBAND”, and after everything
was all done and we got in the car to head home and he just looked over and said “You want to
go home and nap?”.
Groom:
The whole day went by as a real rush and the first moment I felt I got to relax and enjoy the
moment was when we hosted a bbq for all our out of town guests. It was relaxing and casual
and we finally got to really focus on each other and talk on the guests that were present.
Tell me about the special aspects of your day that made it unique to you two?
The entire purpose of our wedding was to be intimate and personalized. Having it in my Mom’s
backyard, having the horses and dogs there, having our FAVOURITE breakfast restaurant
cater, and having waffles and Irish coffees are all top contenders.
Besides making the choice to marry each other, what was the easiest decision you made for
your wedding? What made it so easy?
Asking Ladybug Café and Bakery to cater. We are mild addicts.
What was the most difficult, time consuming choice that you made for your wedding day? And
advice to couples on this?
Our wedding was small, intimate, personalized, and easy. We had been casually talking about it
for a couple of years so pretty much everything was already mapped out, all we had to do was
act on the plans. Nothing stands out as overly challenging or time consuming (we had 19 weeks
between proposal and wedding and yet didn’t feel at all rushed). My biggest recommendation is
for sure just to have a small, intimate wedding – it was easier to plan, less stressful, and I got to
enjoy Mark and my guests more.
Advice to couples planning their wedding day?
Again, I cannot overstate the value of a small, intimate wedding in a location that is special to
you (like a backyard). Everything else falls into place.
