Darren & Jessica’s Canadian Rockies Wedding

Excited to be sharing the last of my fall weddings from this year. And I am so happy that it is

a mountain wedding. As an adventure photographer my favorite place to shoot is the mountains.

I just love outdoor ceremonies and a mountain backdrop for photos. I could talk on and on about

this beautiful day but I am going to get straight to some words from the bride & groom and some

awesome photos!

How did you guys meet?

We met at BMO, where we started our new roles at the same location and same time. I walked

into the branch one day wearing a Manchester United scarf and Jess said “Hey, you like

United?” I replied “Yes” and Jess said “Okay, we can be friends.”

Please share the proposal story with us?

It’s Tuesday morning January 5th, 2016 (Darren’s B-Day) where Jess and I wanted

to capture the sunrise in Puerto Rico along the beach. I had the Engagement Ring in my

pocket for two days now, where the ring went through airport security (no beeps!), been snorkeling

in the Caribbean (no lost treasure) tucked away in my board shorts (double ziplocked, airtight).

As we were walking along the beach, I was getting bitten by sand fleas and Jess was starting

to get hungry. I wanted to keep walking a little longer and Jess didn’t have any idea

what was going to happen next. As we were staring into the horizon holding each other, I asked Jess

if she would give me the best birthday gift ever…..(she was thinking of other things…..). I then pulled the ring out

of my pocket and got down on one knee and asked Jess if she would spend the rest of her life with me?

She began to cry, then crumble as I helped her kneel down with me in the sand. Somewhere

within that 60 second time frame, I had to confirm with Jess that she actually said yes. The rest is history!

Most memorable moment from your wedding day?

Bride – Coming down the aisle and seeing Darren smile at me and saying that he loved

me and I looked beautiful and our first dance as Husband & Wife (actually our first ever slow dance!)
Groom – Seeing Jess come down the aisle like a princess, but she wasn’t looking at me! Haha (she didn’t want to cry).

Tell me about the special aspects of your day that made it unique to you two?

– Mountain Wedding with our family and friends. We love the mountains and outdoors and wouldn’t have done it any other way.

– Hiking to the ruins near Lake Minnewanka for pictures. We love to explore and hike and it’s kind of funny

that we did this while totally decked out in our wedding outfits and Jess wearing high heels.

Advice to couples planning their mountain wedding day?

Definitely have the Ceremony outdoors. It’s already going to be such a beautiful day to celebrate with family

and friends, so make sure you “take a step back” and enjoy the scenery of nature and enjoy each moment as much as you can.
